A woman is suspected of being drunk and impaired by drugs when she caused a three-vehicle crash in Gilbert over the weekend, Maricopa County authorities said Sunday.
Zelda Lopez, 36, of Chandler was seriously injured in Saturday afternoon's collision at Power and Germann roads. She was one of 10 people injured in the crash, Gilbert fire officials said.
When Lopez recovers, sheriff's spokesman Doug Matteson said, she will be arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Lopez has prior convictions for DUI and fleeing the scene of a crash, Matteson said.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office investigators said Lopez, driving a white 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager, ran a red light at Germann while southbound on Power around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The minivan broadsided a gray 2005 Honda Pilot, and the two vehicles then spun into a white 2009 Toyota Camry.
