SALT LAKE CITY — Mormon church historians are set to release the second book in a 30-volume documentary series that chronicles the life and work of the faith's founder.

"The Joseph Smith Papers: Revelations and Translations" is the first of two volumes documenting the manuscripts of Smith's revelations that shaped the doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Church historian Elder Marlin K. Jensen will present the first copy of the book to Elder Russell M. Nelson, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles during a 10 a.m. ceremony Tuesday, just before its release to the public.

The series is said to be the most comprehensive collection of Smith's writings. It's being published by the Church Historian's Press, a church-owned imprint.
