Singer, actor and dancer Chita Rivera rose to fame as Anita in the premiere of “West Side Story.” Since then, the Broadway legend has earned two Tony Awards for best leading actress in a musical, was the first Hispanic woman to receive the Kennedy Center Honor and received a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 from President Barack Obama. Rivera will perform an “All-American Songbook” as part of Scottsdale’s La Gran Fiesta, a four-day celebration of Hispanic and Latin culture going on Thursday through Nov. 7. The Spanish Harlem Orchestra and Havana-based Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba will also perform as part of the weekend’s festivities.
