Arizona taxpayers have until Saturday to make donations to take advantage of state tax-credit programs.
Dec. 31 is generally the deadline for such programs each year, although donations to qualifying private-school tuition organizations may be still be claimed for 2011 if made by April 15, 2012.
Tax credit programs available include the charitable contributions tax credit – which allows taxpayers who itemize deductions to claim a credit of up to $200 (individual) or $400 (married filing jointly) for donations to a charity that spends at least 50 percent of its budget for the betterment of Arizona.
Another common tax credit program includes the public school tax credit. More information can be found at www.azdor.gov.
