All eyes are on the Super-Target, but a bunch of other stores also are planning early March openings at Gilbert Gateway, the 80-acre shopping center at Ray and Power roads.
SuperTarget has scheduled its grand-opening festivities for March 6, but it is expected to soft-open earlier — probably as soon as Wednesday.
Expected to open at Gateway on Tuesday are: Pier One Imports, Ross Dress for Less and Cost Plus.
Also ready to ring up sales are Linens ’N Things, which plans to open March 4, Pets-Mart on March 7, and Famous Footwear on March 10.
Retailers who recently signed up for space at Gateway and should be opening as soon as are Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A and Dress Barn.
At Crossroads Town Center — straddling the Gilbert Road border of Gilbert and Chandler south of Loop 202 — the other SuperTarget also is expected to open Wednesday.
Look for craft giant Michael’s to open sometime in the first half of March.
Here are some other stores that recently signed leases at Crossroads and will open as soon as they can outfit their space: World of Rugs, Kay Jewelers, Ritz Camera, Premio Gelato Cafe and Red Lobster.
A CVS drugstore opened at Indian School and Miller roads in Scottsdale. It’s Scottsdale’s third CVS.
Bashas’ at Baseline and Crismon roads in Mesa is the new prototype store — 54,000 square feet, making room for a Taco Grill, Rice Garden and United Pharmacy, and a Cub House child care center for grocery-shopping parents.
Jackson Hewitt Tax Services moved into Apache Plaza, southeast corner of
Power Road and Main Street in Mesa.
Lowe’s purchased 14 acres in Fulton Ranch Towne Center, on the southwest corner of Ocotillo Road and Arizona Avenue in Chandler to build a home improvement warehouse store. Construction is scheduled to begin soon with an opening planned for later in the year.
Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial recently comple- ted the sale of the former Innovex building at 2001 W. Chandler Blvd. in Chandler. Armstrong Development, a real estate development company, bought the 145,000-square-foot structure for $5 million. The company plans to demolish the existing building and develop new retail space on the 14-acre site.
