Rufus Glasper, chancellor of Maricopa Community Colleges, has been named one of 20 education leaders appointed to a commission to study the regulation of distance education.

The appointment to the Commission on Regulation of Postsecondary Distance Education was announced last week. The commission will research and develop recommendations to address the regulatory costs and inefficiencies faced by postsecondary institutions that must comply with multiple state regulations.

The commission is headed by former U.S. Education Secretary Richard W. Riley and includes several university presidents, heads of educational organizations and officials with experience in state government.
