Job seekers can enhance their credentials by taking the Office Proficiency Assessment and Certification (OPAC). OPAC measures skill levels in a wide range of high-end administrative assistant job functions from typing speed through various software applications.

At Maricopa Workforce Connections Career Centers, OPAC is available for job seekers who have registered in the Virtual One Stop System. Job seekers can certify their typing speed, 10-key, and data entry speed and accuracy. A signed and credentialed cover letter is provided. This certification letter can also be included in a job seeker’s portfolio documenting specific marketable skills.

Job seekers may practice their typing with OPAC over several weeks, increasing speed and accuracy while gaining confidence. Free typing tutorials with the “finger drills” are furnished on request.

Additional assessments are available to test proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Assessments also cover areas such as medical terminology, legal terminology, basic banking functions, alpha/numeric filing systems and proofreading.

For further information, job seekers may call or visit one of the MWC Career Centers. In the East Valley, the MWC Career Center is located at 735 N. Gilbert Road (corner of Guadalupe and Gilbert Roads) in Gilbert. For additional information, call (480)497-0350 or visit
