Gas prices dropped more than 6 cents in the last week or so for East Valley drivers, according to AAA Arizona.

East Valley drivers were paying an average $3.628 per gallon on Thursday, below the statewide average of $3.670. Statewide, prices were down for the ninth week in a row.

Nationally, the price of fuel decreased 6 cents to $3.560 per gallon — a 20 cent drop from last month.

The price of crude oil fluctuated slightly Thursday amid federal conversations of a jeopardized U.S. economy, according to AAA Arizona. A disappointing job growth report in May, coupled with the European debt crisis and domestic economic concerns continue to exert downward pressure on the commodity. Crude continues to trade at a multi-month low, resulting in steady decreases at the pump.
