LOS ANGELES — Twitter is officially the talk of the town as a two-day conference dedicated to the micro-blogging site gets under way at the Skirball (SKER'-bahl) Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
Company co-founder Biz Stone opened the conference Tuesday with a 40-minute speech about the origins of Twitter and its goal to make a positive global impact. He cited the site's importance in organizing political protests worldwide.
Pro skater Tony Hawk, attorney Mark Geragos (GEHR'-ah-gohs), San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, actors Tyrese Gibson and Greg Grunberg and addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky are also set to talk Twitter.
