Florida-based homebuilder Taylor Morrison is moving to Scottsdale.

The company, which has more than 200 residential communities in development nationwide, is relocating its headquarters closer to its biggest markets, said Steve Wethor, Western region president.

“The majority of our operations are in Texas, Colorado, California and Arizona,” Wethor said. “And Phoenix is our largest division. It made sense.”

A big chunk of the local development projects – about 10 to 15 of them – are in the south East Valley, he said. They include Shamrock Farms and Lakeview Trails in Gilbert.

“We really like the demographics in the south East Valley and will continue to expand in that area,” Wethor said.

The headquarters relocation will bring an additional 50 to 100 administrative jobs to Scottsdale, he said.

Most of the corporate staff will move to the Valley by the end of August, he said. The Information technology staff will relocate during the next 12 to 18 months, Wethor said.
