Other Texas Roadhouses operate in Mesa, Phoenix and Peoria.

HUMAN BEAN

A coffee cafe called The Human Bean is planned for the northeast corner of Cooper and Guadalupe roads in Gilbert.

The owner filed for a preliminary application review with town officials, but the expected opening date is unclear.

PLAZA PLANNED

Developers want to build an nearly two-acre retail center called San Tan View Plaza at the northwest corner of Higley and Germann roads in Gilbert.

Project organizers are seeking counsel on the planned 11,640-square-foot development from the town’s planning department before applying for official approval.

It’s unclear when construction is expected to start or when the center will open.

BRANCHING OUT

Three banks are planning to open branches in Gilbert.

National Bank wants to open a location at the northeast corner of Val Vista Drive and Pecos Road in Gilbert.

Also, a MidFirst Bank may open at the northwest corner of Higley and Ray roads, and AmTrust Bank wants to open a location at the southeast corner of Val Vista Drive and Market Street.

HOBBY LOBBY

Hobby Lobby, a retailer of art, hobby and craft supplies, is planning to open a store at 1835 S. Greenfield Road in Mesa, just north of Baseline Road.

The Oklahoma company operates 395 stores in 32 states.

NEWEST AJ's TO OPEN IN SCOTTSDALE'S NORTH MARKETPLACE

The newest AJ’s, homegrown grocer Bashas’ upscale market, is scheduled to open Nov. 10 at 31311 N. Scottsdale Road.

That’s on the southeast corner of Lone Mountain and Scottsdale roads in the Scottsdale North Marketplace.

The new AJ’s space is smaller than other nearby supermarkets, but it includes a large cheese selection, bakery, bistro, cappuccino bar, wine cellar with tasting emporium, cigar humidor, floral boutique, farmers market, butcher’s corner, seafood grotto, sushi bar, and the brand’s signature outdoor barbecue and patio dining. Six shops and services have just announced plans to join AJ’s at the new shopping center.

BEAUTY BUSINESSES

For those who want to be pampered, Bella Day Spa, an upscale hair and nail salon and spa, has signed on.

So has Adam & Eve Medspa, which provides “aesthetic and cosmetic services supervised by a dedicated, licensed M.D., who is in attendance on a daily basis.”

The business lists its services as fractional laser skin resurfacing, photo-facials for youthful restoration, laser hair and tattoo removal, and all the popular injectables such as Restylane, Juvederm, Botox and Sculptra.

The Quintessential Bride and Formal Wear moved out of nearby DC Ranch Marketplace and will start up soon at the new center.

For the more mundane but necessary day-to-day needs, there will be a Martinizing Dry Cleaners.

HOME STORE

Casa Paloma Interiors plans to sell “unique home accessories, inspired gift items and interior design services.”

And to provide a way for patrons to pay for all those pricey purchases, Scottsdale North Marketplace plans to feature a free-standing Chase Bank. All the new stores are expected to open within the next few months.

DOWNTOWN EATS

Grand Lux Cafe’s Arizona debut is scheduled for Thursday at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The diverse menu includes Thai, Malaysian, Caribbean, classic American and European specialties prepared in an exhibition-style kitchen.
