The news service Reuters reported Friday that Wal-Mart is closing all four of its Marketside test stores in the East Valley.
The small, quick-shopping concept stores, which opened in 2008 in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe, will be shut down Oct. 21.
Reuters reported that Wal-Mart will continue to sell its Marketside-branded products elsewhere in its other stores.

I loved their fluffy flour tortillas that a weird .."Barney Google" type machine made. The only problem was that they were supposed to be made from 11am on and never were...lol.
Sad thing is that there is probably another 50 people out of work because of these closings.

They must not have been money makers. Maybe the shoppers in E.V. are tired of cheap, toxic products from China. Maybe the rest of us should demand American-made, or boycott WalMart altogether.

I liked the Marketside stores. They built one of these stores on the corner of Guadalupe and Cooper which is close to my house. It was convenient to just stop there and not have to deal with the high prices at Fry's and the crowds at Walmart.
