A former governor, an iced tea tycoon, a resort owner, a popular local chef/restaurateur and other Valley heavy hitters said they back the proposed Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley project.
A venerable broadcaster isn't buying the pitch.
$1.5 billion Ritz-Carlton resort approved in PV
Paradise Valley residents are lining up on both sides of the resort plan that will be decided by voters Nov. 4.
At issue is a cluster of upscale residential villas, a requirement for funding the resort, according to Five Star Development, which hopes to build the project northwest of Lincoln Drive and Scottsdale Road.
Ritz opponents, including TV veteran Hugh Downs, said the villas add too much density and traffic.
Equally influential neighbors, such as Fife Symington, Dan Schweiker, John Dawson, Eddie Matney and power developers Steve Ellman and David Larcher, back the plan.
