Tempe-based US Airways flew nearly 7 percent fewer passengers in November than in November 2007.
The carrier reported Wednesday that it reduced capacity last month by more than 6 percent. Load factor, the percentage of available seats filled, was 77.7 percent in November, down 0.7 percent from a year ago.
"In addition to the impact of the busy post-Thanksgiving holiday travel return falling in December, our November unit revenue was impacted by the deteriorating macroeconomic environment. We continue to believe, however, that the impact of lower fuel cost will more than offset the decline in demand that we are currently anticipating," US Airways president Scott Kirby said in a statement.
