Customers can deposit cash and checks at the same time without an envelope as Wells Fargo rolls out a new generation of “Envelope-Free ATMs” in Arizona.

The machines don’t require an envelope when making a deposit, but they go a step further allowing customers to stack cash and checks together.

After a successful pilot in Colorado, Wells Fargo is now rolling out the ATMs across Arizona with 495 machines having this new technology by the end of August.

Customers will not need to write on an envelope or key-in a deposit amount.

Once cash and/or checks are inserted into the slot (up to 30 checks and bills in different denominations), the machine converts the paper checks into digital images, which appear on the ATM screen and on the receipt. It also sorts and counts the bills and verifies the amount.
