Arizona State University has been named one of two doctoral-granting academic institutions to receive a Climate Leadership Award from Second Nature and the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.

ASU was one of 10 institutions overall to receive the award for its commitment to transitioning to a clean, just and sustainable future. With the expansion of additional solar power in the last year, ASU now generates approximately 30 percent of its peak daytime electricity needs. The university is also working toward reducing by 90 percent the amount of solid waste that goes into landfills to by 2015.
