YourAZJobs: Hotel, hospitality jobs pace Valley industries now hiring

It’s weathered a lengthy recession and even threats of boycotts over Arizona’s controversial immigration legislation, yet the hotel and hospitality trade still remains one of the Grand Canyon State’s benchmark industries.

And heading into the new year, Many Valley resorts and newly-built hotels are currently hiring for positions in a number of Valley cities, including Gilbert, Scottsdale and Phoenix.

Marriott International is getting set to open the doors on a sparkling new Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in Gilbert next month. As it makes its final preparations, management is looking to hire for "all positions,” according to its posting at YourAZJobs.com.

Hyatt Hotels, with numerous Valley locations under the upscale Hyatt Regency resort brand and the business-friendly Hyatt Place label, is also hiring for positions in both Scottsdale and Phoenix.

In Scottsdale, Hyatt is looking for and entry-level cook and intermediate-level line cook. In Phoenix, Hyatt is accepting applications for a culinary apprentice; formal culinary education is preferred, and the position will focus on pastry and baking.

Beyond the hospitality industry, opportunities are also available in the higher education, financial services, and local broadcast media, among other fields. For its Tempe campus, Arizona State University is seeking an adviser for its international scholar program.

Intrinsic Wealth Counsel, a Mesa financial services firm, is on the hunt for a junior financial planner to “assist the Senior Financial Planner in all aspects of our financial planning process.” According to its posting at YourAZJobs.com, the position could also lead to a senior position with the firm over the next decade. Similarly, Mesa’s Parsonex Financial Services is seeking full- or part-time financial advisors.

In the Valley radio market, rock station 97.9 FM KUPD is still taking applications for a full-time promotions coordinator, while 100.7 FM KSLX, with its classic rock format, is out to hire a full-time sales/continuity coordinator.
