Arizona gasoline prices resumed their downward slide this week after a one-week bump caused by Hurricane Ike, according to AAA Arizona.
Statewide, drivers are paying an average of $3.49 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, a drop of more than 7 cents in one week. In the East Valley the average is $3.42 this week, down 7 cents, and in Scottsdale the average is $3.57, down 4 cents.
Nationwide, the average is $3.70 this week, down 13 cents in the last seven days.
Despite the relief at the pump this week, Arizona motorists are still paying nearly 90 cents more per gallon than they were paying at this time last year, said Linda Gorman, director of public affairs from AAA Arizona. That equates to an average of $14 more to fill their tank, she said.
