One of the bigger scams in recent City of Phoenix, AZ history is this one right here. SSP is essentially buying the rights to use local business names and menus in exchange for a small cut of the profits: "SSP America will operate the store, but managers and possibly some employees will be trained at Joe’s." Another bidder, AREAS, offered owner/operator status to local businesses, resulting in higher profits for local folks and more money in our the local economy. But magically, SSP won anyway. This is good example of why it's imperative to see past the spin.

The dictionary says a scam is "A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle." This is how you would characterize this? SSP won the bid fairly and honestly. And how dare they want to make a profit on a business venture! The nerve!
