Fuel prices continued to rise in the last week, with East Valley drivers now paying $3.704 per gallon, up 2.7 cents as of Thursday, according to AAA Arizona.

Prices are at historic September highs across the state and country, the AAA release states. The Arizona average rose 2.6 cents in the last week to $3.725 per gallon, while the national average gained 4.6 cents to $3.869 per gallon.

Prices in the last month have soared 35 cents in Arizona and 17 cents nationwide. “Many motorists were anticipating that September would bring an end to this six-week price surge,” said Linda Gorman, AAA Arizona spokeswoman. “However, due to current market factors and volatility, Arizonans are going to have to wait a little bit longer for relief to arrive.”

AAA Arizona attributes a number of factors to the price increases, including “sluggish economic news.” The cost of crude oil remains more than $90, as it was for the last five weeks.

    Market factors? Volatility?
    How about price gouging, AAA?
Quit making excuses for the petroleum companies!
They're reaping billions of dollars profit on the backs of the middle class.
Does anybody think Mitt will fix this???
Don't talk to me about drilling, either. We're already exporting millions of barrels of oil a day. Drilling more wells will have NO EFFECT on gas prices, at all.
Until we put more refineries on line(takes 10 years) the driving public will continue to be bent over. Mitt doesn't pump his own gas, he'll never see the problem....
