The Banner Ironwood Medical Center is expanding to handle more patients by opening its fourth floor on Jan. 4. The $5.1 million expansion includes 12 additional inpatient beds and four more labor and delivery rooms.
The fourth floor includes a nursery that will care for babies that need medical attention while their mothers are being treated.
Banner Ironwood opened in 2010, with 36 beds on three floors. The hospital, at Combs and Gantzel roads, is a five-story building that is able to hold more than 500 beds to serve the Queen Creek and San Tan Valley areas. Banner Ironwood’s services include intensive care, surgery, medical imaging and obstetrics.
