Education: BA, Journalism; MBA; MAEd
Job title: Director of the Johnson Ranch Learning Center and faculty for Central Arizona College
How did you get your job?
“When I found out that I would be laid off at the job I had been at for the past eight years, I approached Central Arizona College in Apache Junction, where I live, and let them know I was ready to come to work for them. The Dean offered me the job of building up enrollments in the Johnson Ranch area for Central Arizona College.”
What are your main duties?
“I manage scheduling, enrollments, testing, faculty and students at a remote site for the college. I work with the community to determine what classes they want and need.”
What do you like best?
“The best part about working in adult education administration is recruiting and training faculty.”
What skills/education are needed to enter your field?
“A love of education, of teaching, and of helping others achieve their goals. College teachers generally need a master’s degree to go along with their experience in the subject matter they wish to teach.”
Any advice for job seekers?
“Never stop learning, your education will open doors for you. All you need to do is have the desire to walk through them.”
