Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton will honor crews from Arizona Public Service and Salt River Project who recently returned from New York after helping restore power to residents in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The mayor plans a proclamation for their efforts during a ceremony Tuesday morning.

Officials say about 100 workers from APS and SRP, along with 50 trucks, headed for Long Island, N.Y., on Nov. 2. The crews spent two weeks clearing damaged electrical equipment and replacing power poles and wires.

The event is set to be held at the Arizona Air National Guard where the APS and SRP trucks were flown from on military aircraft.

Arizona Air National Guard Col. Gary Brewer, APS Chairman and CEO Don Brandt and SRP General Manager and CEO Mark Bonsall were expected to attend.
