Pet supply and services retailer PetSmart will have a grand opening ceremony Saturday for it third Scottsdale location.
The store at 7077 E. Mayo Blvd in the Shops at Chauncey Ranch opened its doors Monday but will celebrate its grand opening at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The shopping center is anchored by a 50,000-square-foot Whole Foods store and also includes Roadrunner Sports, DNA Cycles and Gordon Biersch stores. The Whole Foods store will open its doors Wednesday.
“We feel that the growth in this community is immense,” said PetSmart store manager Troy Tamer. “This part of town is developing so fast that our store has a great opportunity to serve all of its local customers.”
Phoenix-based PetSmart has more than 1,000 stores in the United States and in Canada, including 29 locations in the Valley.
“We saw the new PetSmart from Scottsdale Road and were so happy that it was so close,” said Scottsdale resident Aida Savas. “They have such a great selection of toys for our young puppies.”
The 21,000-square-foot store will employ about 80 to 90 people and will include a veterinary hospital. The store will also feature the only PetsHotel in Scottsdale.
PetsHotel manager Emily Corsi said the facility, which will have its grand opening on April 12, will feature dog atriums for $27 a night and “kitty cottages” for $14 a night. The facility will also include dog suites which cost $37 a night and will feature elevated lambskin beds along with personal TV’s.
PetSmart will be give away 500 ID tags to its first 500 customers on Saturday. The store will also give free samples of various products and provide a pet training kiosk.
The event will also include a drawing for a year supply of dog food.
“We expect it to be a fun and exciting day in which all customers will be able to experience what PetSmart is all about,” Tamer said.
