Mesa is hosting an event Tuesday for residents, landlords and housing professionals to better understand fair housing issues. The event will include a number of sessions dealing with topics that include the Arizona Residential Landlord Tennant Act, how to file a claim, disabilities in fair housing and the Violence Against Women Act. Experts will also take questions about fair housing, which protects the right for people to have housing opportunities without discrimination based on race, religion, sex, color, national origin, disability or family status.
The housing expo will include officials from Mesa, the Arizona Office of Attorney General, Community Legal Services and the Southwest Fair Housing Council. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center St. For information, call (480) 644-3536 or visit mesaaz.gov/housing.com.

Here's a "fair housing" issue I bet won't be discussed at the expo:
The vast amount of property tax dollars being forced on homeowners because of the tax exemption enjoyed by the various religious cults in the area.
Hundreds of acres of city land, with no property taxes at all - yet they use taxpayer funded infrastructure (roads, waterlines, power, etc) without paying for them.
This needs to change NOW.
