What are your main duties?
“It could be anything from helping them build an HR infrastructure ... to helping them position for growth by giving them HR tools they’ll need. “It could be recruiting, training of leadership coaching. My duties depend on what they hire me for. And sometimes they hire us for all of that.”
What do you like best?
“I love being able to make a difference in several Valley businesses. I love being able to see the results of my work and have satisfied customers. “I think in the end we end up having longstanding business relationships, which is really great.”
What skills/education are required for this field?
“Relationship building is key to your success in this business. You need to be able to get people to open up quickly and trust you. From the technical standpoint, you have to have knowledge of HR to be a good consultant. You have to know about employment law. You have to be able to offer HR solutions and understand HR policy/practices to help a business. And, you need to be able to effectively transfer your skill and knowledge.”
