The solar power array at Nellis Air Force Base uses tracking devices to keep the solar panels pointed toward the sun. Tilted toward the south, each set of solar panels rotates around a central bar to track the sun from east to west.
The Bureau of Land Management identified two "solar energy zones" in Arizona, in Brenda and Gillespie, part of the 17 sites the agency identified on federal lands in six Western states as ripe fo solar-power development.

There's enough sunshine in AZ to supply electricity for most everyone. We need to develop these solar farms all over the desert.

Gee sir, if this is a million dollar idea and a surefire moneymaker.....how about YOU invest your money in it? Or get one of those SBA loans the Govmint likes to give out..you know, the "you didn't build it" guys?
No, you would rather use taxpayer dollars to flush money down the toilet on ideas like this....please reference First Solar, and the fact that their solar panels can't handle the desert heat. Did they ever build that plant in Mesa to provide all the "green" jobs? But I bet they cashed those taxpayer funded subsidy checks.
And oh, btw, what about the local ecosystem? I guess that only matters when we are drilling for oil or natural gas.....those solar panels must not be in the way of any Kennedy's views of the ocean (or our mountains) like the wind farms proposed off the coast of Massachusetts that were never built.

NOW SAY A REAL...REAL....BAD...HABOOBIE THUNDERSTORM HIT THE AREA OF THESE ...."GLASS-COVERED"...SOLAR ENERGY UNITS.....WITH ....SOFTBALL-SIZED HAIL FOR A GOOD :30MINUTES OR SO......COULD ONE OF THOSE....."GLOBAL-WARMING TREE-HUGGERS" EXPLAIN WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN THAT SCENARIO ???????
