A two-day symposium focusing on the future of Arizona’s economy, and specifically how the Latino community will impact that future, is scheduled for May 4-5 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is hosting “Transforming Arizona’s Economy,” with workshops, seminars, and presentations focusing on “the historic and growing impact of Latino-owned businesses and consumers statewide and across the nation.”
The event, presented by University of Phoenix, will including a community town hall, screening of the HBO production “The Latino List,” and the 54th annual black and white ball and business awards – on top of the release of the Chamber’s 16th-annual “Datos: Focus on the Hispanic Market.”
Designated as an official Arizona Centennial event, the symposium will highlight the historical legacy of Arizona’s Latino community.

Why do we need a "Hispanic" Chamber of Commerce? Are businessmen/women with a Hispanic heritage smart enough or competent enough to join the plain, old, "Chamber of Commerce"? Do Hispanic businessmen/women need laws and regulations translated into Spanish to comprehend them? Do Hispanic businessmen/women feel uncomfortable or unqualified sitting next to a regular Chamber of Commerce businessman or businesswoman? What has brought on this need for ......."SEPARATION FROM MAINSTREAM BUSINESSMEN/WOMEN" ???
Growing up in the 1950's, I never heard of an "Italian" Chamber of Commerce or a "German" Chamber of Commerce or an "Eskimo" Chamber of Commerce or a "Jewish" Chamber of Commerce.
Chambers of Commerce are supposed to be a meeting place for businessmen/women to discuss and promote commerce and business.
Maybe that's the answer as to why there is such a thing as a "Hispanic" Chamber of Commerce........COMMERCE ISN'T BLACK, YELLOW, WHITE OR ...."BROWN".
The ....."Hispanic" Chamber of Commerce seems to be more concerned about ...."POLITICS".....more than...."COMMERCE".
It showed that when it came out against ...........SB 1070....WHICH HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH..."COMMERCE"....ONLY ABOUT MEXICAN, HONDURAN, EL SALVADORAN AND GUATAMALAN CITIZENS .....ILLEGALLY ENTERING THE UNITED STATES (almost all of them now have 40lb backpacks of...MARIJUANA, COCAINE, METH OR HEROIN...when they cross over the Mexican Border).
I don't know about you, Folks....but I sure don't consider the Mexican Drug Cartel Leaders as.............BUSINESSMAN............do you ???
