Executive Vice President Ganesh Moorthy has been promoted to chief operating officer of Microchip Technology, a Chandler-based producer of microcontrollers and analog semiconductors.
Moorthy joined Microchip in 2001 after working 19 years at Intel Corp. Initially, he was vice president of the advanced microcontroller and automotive division. He became executive vice president in 2006.
He received a BSc in physics from the University of Mumbai in 1979, a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Washington in 1981 and an MBA in marketing from National University in 1987.
In his new position, Moorthy will take a larger role in running Microchip, including strategic planning, annual operating plans, operations management and investor relations, said Chief Executive Steve Sanghi.
