City and regional transit agencies hope you'll give your wallet a break and public transit a chance by reducing trips on Thursday, Dump the Pump Day.

Valley Metro recommends that you go to www.valleymetro.org and visit the transit trip planner or Google Transit to plan a bus or light rail trip; find a carpool partner at the Share the Ride section on www.valleymetro.org; ask your boss if you can work from home that day; and calculate your fuel savings using an online calculator or find gas-saving commute alternatives by going to www.valleymetro.org.

Still not pumped about dumping the pump? Consider this: According to the American Public Transportation Association, people in a two-person household can save an average of $834 per month if they use public transit and live with one less car.

More people might use public transit if there were more facilties available like restrooms and cold water. Businesses on the routes wont let people use there facilities so what are people supposed to do.
