Chandler is inviting nonprofit organizations to apply for funding to support the special events and community festivals that they host in the city. The city will award funds to events that enhance the community through cultural and educational enrichment, diversity and heritage, community pride and economic vitality. Chandler’s City Council has approved $30,000 a year to these special events since 2002.
Fourteen organizations received funding for events last year. They include the Spring Sock Hop hosted by the Recreation & Athletics for the Disabled and the Arizona Classical Jazz Festival put on by the Arizona Classic Jazz Society.
Applications are available at www.chandleraz.gov/special-events and are due Aug. 23. A panel of six citizens who serve on city-appointed boards will review the applications, and awards will be announced in September. For more information, call (480) 782-2665.
