Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Ahwatukee, Apache Junction and Queen Creek drivers are seeing yet another drop in pump prices, according to AAA Arizona.

Across the East Valley, prices fell 4.3 cents in the last week to $3.437 on Thursday. That's just below the state average of $3.452, which also saw a 4.3 cent decrease from last week.

Even though motorists in every state in the continental U.S. are paying less than $4 per gallon for gasoline, national prices edged up 1.3 cents to $3.525 per gallon.

“Gas prices in much of the country have declined this spring because of lower oil costs, ample refinery production and continued weak demand,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “Production issues and weather are contributing to higher prices at the pump in other parts of the country.”

Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.230 and $3.684 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and Illinois hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.220 and $3.953 per gallon, respectively.
