Once again, East Valley drivers are playing less at the pump this week, according to AAA Arizona.
Drivers in Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Queen Creek and Apache Junction are playing 8 cents less than last week. The average pump price Thursday was $3.551, which is 20 cents less than a month ago.
Pump prices across the state and country continued their downward trend this week. Arizona’s average shed 6 cents from last week to $3.559 per gallon. Nationally, prices are more than a nickel lower than last week at $3.512 per gallon.
“Pump prices in April continue to fall, not just because of weak demand data and signs of economic weakness but because oil prices have also moved sharply lower,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “AAA projects prices will continue to fall as we move into May, barring unforeseen circumstances.”
Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.323 and $3.778 per gallon, respectively. South Carolina and California hold the lowest and highest average prices for the lower 48 states at $3.285 and $3.962 per gallon, respectively.
