Retail corridor: Sam’s Club slated for opening in Gilbert’s SanTan Village

Construction on a Sam’s Club at SanTan Village Power Center in Gilbert is expected to be done by the first quarter of 2008.

The store will encompass 126,000 square feet, the town’s business development division reported. SanTan Village is near Williams Field and Greenfield roads.

Gilbert also is getting a 53-acre mixed-use center on the southeast corner of Gilbert and Germann roads. Construction on the Reserve at Santan will be in three phases.


Tuesday Morning, a discount retail store, is set to open Tuesday at 4960 S. Alma School Road in the Ocotillo Shopping Center in Chandler.

Officials from the Dallas-based company said the store will sell everything from luggage and gourmet foods to bath products and garden accessories at prices 50 percent to 80 percent lower than prices at department stores and in catalogs.


The Wal-Mart store at 5290 S. Power Road in Gilbert will open a Desert Schools Federal Credit Union branch on Aug. 18.

Desert Schools is Arizona’s second largest credit union with more than 350,000 members and 61 locations, 25 of which are located inside Wal-Mart stores.


Scottsdale-based P.F. Chang’s China Bistro was named one of the nation’s top retailers by AllianceData, a Dallas-based company providing marketing services among other things to retailers.

The chain of pan-Asian restaurants was ranked No. 51 out of a list of 100 retailers that included Starbucks, Target, Tiffany & Co., Wal-Mart and Ruth’s Chris Steak House, among others.

Phoenix-based PetSmart also made the list at No. 74.

AllianceData’s Hot 100 Retailers list is an annual ranking of the fastest-growing retail companies based on year-over-year revenue growth.


The Promenade at Casa Grande, a 1 million square-foot shopping center under way at Interstate 10 and state Highway 287, has attracted seven more retailers.

Promenade officials said the center will get a Bed Bath & Beyond, Claire’s, Cost Plus World Market, Fashion Bug, Mimi’s Cafe, Olive Garden and Sports Authority.

Other stores opening at Promenade when it opens Nov. 16 are Dillard’s, Best Buy, JC Penny and Kohl’s among others.
