LAS VEGAS - Westcor, the Valley’s retail powerhouse, announced a host of new tenants for its East Valley properties during the first day of the International Conference of Shopping Center’s spring convention.

The announcements were made as executives of Westcor and its parent company, Macerich, met with real estate agents, retailers, designers and architects at their two expansive booths in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Among the the tenants that will be coming are:

• Hollister, West Coastinspired apparel for teen guys and girls, at Superstition Springs Center.

• People’s Courthouse, a one-stop destination for the selection, preparation and filing of legal documents, offering Notary Public and credit reporting services, at Chandler Fashion Center.

• Quiksilver, which sells clothing and accessories representing a casual, surfer lifestyle, also at Chandler Fashion Center.

• Deb, a teen clothing store for girls of all sizes, at Fiesta Mall.

• Cache, which sells casual sportswear, eveningwear and contemporary accessories, at Kierland Commons.

• Cathy Jean, the largest privately held retailer of women’s fashion Brazilian leather footwear, at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Westcor owns every mall in the East Valley except for Arizona Mills, including Scottsdale Fashion Square, Chandler Fashion Center, Fiesta Mall, Superstition Springs Center and SanTan Village.

The firm also operates large-scale shopping centers across the East Valley, including The Borgata in Scottsdale, where three new retailers were among those announced Monday.

They include the Taneko Tavern, French 75 and Dolce Spa.

“We’re dealing with SanTan Village,” said Bob Williams, senior vice president of development-leasing for Westcor, referring to the Gilbert outdoor mall and regional power center under construction at Williams Field Road and the Santan stretch of Loop 202.

“But we really talk about all our projects — whether or not they are new or existing. We are able to lay out all our properties in Phoenix and ask the retailer, ‘Where do you want to be,?’ “ he said.

More than 40,000 real estate, construction and retail professionals are attending the ICSC convention that occupies more than 1.4 million square feet of space at the convention center. Almost 1,000 companies occupy the “Leasing Mall” where owners and developers look to either fill space or develop retail space for shopping centers across the world.

Next door to the leasing mall, more than 330 companies offer retail-related services that includes everything from statues, elevators and roofing to computer software and market analysis services.

Buzz Gosnell, president of Scottdale-based Woodbine Southwest Corp. was among East Valley movers and shakers to attend the conference. Gosnell’s Woodbine built and developed Kierland Commons.

“It’s really about getting in front of people. It’s making the face-to-face meetings. Most of the people I meet here, I’ve spoken to on the phone. It’s just easier to talk around a table,” Gosnell said.
