The diversity of Chandler’s economy is highlighted in a new list of that city’s largest employers.

The Chandler Chamber of Commerce today is releasing its “Chandler 100” representing various industry sectors ranked in order of greatest revenue and number of employees.

“In Chandler, there are many, many strong anchor companies that contribute a great deal to our economy,” said Becky Jackson, chamber president and CEO. “There really hasn’t been any kind of publication or opportunity for all those names to be in one place and in one booklet so that people can use them for economic development. It’s an economic development tool.”

High-tech, financial services, retail and health care top the list of employers.

“The list has great diversity in it,” Jackson said. “A lot of times we in Chandler are known as the silicon desert, and looking at the list ... we have the companies that you don’t necessarily hear about all the time. There are some newer companies in there that rank right up there at the top.”

Public and private employers are featured, such as Salt River Project, Chandler city government, Microchip Technology, Toyota Financial Services and Nationwide Vision Center.

The first-ever list will be updated annually to highlight changes in Chandler’s economy and work force, she said.

“It really shows the strong, highly educated work force that we have here in the community,” Jackson said.
