Mesa Vice Mayor Scott Somers has been re-appointed to the National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood. Somers will serve a two-year term, following his selection from a pool of 85 applicants.
The advisory council provides guidance and recommendations to the Department of Transportation and the Federal Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services. The council advises government agencies on EMS issues that include retention of EMS personnel, quality assurance, data collection and education. The organization works to reduce death and disability by promoting better EMS coordination and emergency medical services.
