A stretch of east-bound Interstate 40 in northern Arizona that was closed indefinitely after icy conditions caused several collisions in the area was reopened late Tuesday night, the Arizona Department of Public Safety reported.
The interstate was opened at mile post 113, which is about eight miles west of Seligman. There were collisions that stretched all the way to mile post 136 near Ash Fork. There were also several stranded motorists who had slid off the roadway.
Roads continue to be covered with ice, and motorists must slow down accordingly, DPS officials urged.
