High-performance diesel trucks and cars will take center stage March 12 during the fourth annual Desert Diesel Nationals at the Speedworld Dragstrip.
Sponsored by locally owned and operated Strictly Diesel, the Desert Diesel Nationals is a family friendly, action-packed day that attracts diesel truck enthusiasts, competitors and spectators from across the U.S. and Canada.
As the kickoff event for the 2011 MBRP Performance Exhaust diesel drag race season, the National Hot Rod Diesel Association Desert Diesel Nationals will feature the top competitors in North America thundering down the track at over 170 miles per hour. This action packed day will also include other diesel-powered events such as Diesel Drag Racing, Burnout Contest, Sand Drags, Mud Bogs and a Show ‘n Shine.
During the crowd-favorite Burnout Contest, competitors get 20 seconds to do the biggest, baddest burnout they can, creating a cloud of smoke and cheers. In the Show ‘n Shine contest, the best looking car or truck takes the win. For each competition, a panel of judges and combined audience response will determine the winners. Competitors walk away with prize money, while spectators can enter to win raffle prizes in drawings held each hour.
Featured competitors at this year’s event include:
• 2010 Pro Stock World Champion Chad Riley and his 8-second 1934 Dodge Roadster
• 2010 Pro Street World Champion Donavon Harris and his 9 second diesel truck
• John Robinson, the first Diesel Powered Funny Car (over 1500 hp)
• MBRP Performance Exhaust Dirty Max (World’s Fastest Diesel-only Chevrolet)
