Benevilla honored the new chairman of the board of directors, Dr. Richard Stuckey, Monday night at Eureka Grill in Surprise.
Michelle Dionisio, executive director of Benevilla, a not-for-profit human services agency, said the board elected Stuckey in December. He replaces board member John Bridgforth as the new chairman.
Stuckey, a Sun City Grand resident, served as the director of the National Association of Wheat Growers Foundation in Washington D.C., and was also executive president for the Council of Agricultural Science and Technology, Ames, Iowa.
He also served as extension professor of plant pathology for the University of Kentucky.
During the event, Dionisio said discussions also took place with Benevilla supporters about new projects, including the expanded home-delivered meals program.
“We really wanted to celebrate the new role of Dr. Stuckey as he takes Benevilla forward and also pay close attention to the fact that we’re about to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our organization in the community, because we’re proud to be here,” Dionisio said.
