Glendale police clear tables for tips at 5 & Diner

Police officers from Glendale, Phoenix, Flagstaff and Scottsdale will assist 5 & Diner restaurant, 7541 W. Bell Road, Peoria, with waiting and clearing tables during a Tip A Cop event from 5 to 10 p.m. Jan. 20.

All tips given to officers will be donated to funding the Police Unity Tour, a nonprofit organization created to honor fallen police officers.

Officers from the Glendale, Phoenix, Flagstaff and Scottsdale police departments will participate in the Police Unity Tour. A three-day, 250-mile bicycle ride that starts in Virginia and ends at the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C., this May. Each rider must raise $1,800 to participate.

    They won't see one dime from me. When I've had to have the Glendale police come out, I encountered arrogance, apathy -- & a refusal for them to file a real report. Yes, I realize that's to the cop's discretion; but in this instance a report was needed, & I believe wasn't done due to the aforementioned, as well as laziness. I encountered even more incredible rudeness & horrible attitude, upon calling the station to receive a copy, only to find out then there was no report.

    THIS IN NOT ISOLATED; I have neighbors, friends & co-workers with all too similar experiences. Yes, there may be some good cops on this force; unfortunately there are many of the other type too -- enough to make it clear, those in charge of these 'officers' are also too apathetic, to correct the matter. Police need to get the reason people are always saying, "My tax dollars pay your salary" is b/c we so often feel we're being ripped off in the *service* we receive back. And cops wonder why it's the fire dept who garners all the respect, while they get little to none....
