Linus from the Peanuts comic strip never went anywhere without his trusty blanket; one Valley non-profit group is continually aiming to make sure every child has the same opportunity to feel that comfort.

Project Linus is a national nonprofit that provides blankets to sick or injured children. The organization’s southeast valley chapter recently donated its 10,000th blanket, capping off three years of work to distribute blankets to children who are sick or otherwise in need across the region.

The effort specifically aided patients at local hospitals like Cardon Children’s Hospital, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, and Mountain Vista Medical Center.

The local chapter relied on more than 50 volunteers to crochet, knit or otherwise create home-made blankets.
