A Scottsdale man was treated at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital early Friday after accidentally shooting himself in the foot with a shotgun.
Michael Gordon, 52, of the 11000 block of North 138th Way, was carrying the shotgun behind his property about 2:40 a.m. when he told police he was searching for trespassers.
When Gordon returned to his house, he tripped on the back step of the house, causing the gun to discharge, police said.
The incident is being investigated as an accident.
The blast awoke Gordon’s wife, daughter and father.
