FLORENCE — Mosquito fogging is planned in Pinal County this week as county environmental officials work to eradicate pests that carry and spread the West Nile virus.

The county Environmental Health Services department says they detected mosquitoes carrying the virus during routine surveillance in the San Tan Valley area.

The Rancho Bella Vista South area will be fogged with the pesticide Anvil between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The spraying boundaries include Bella Vista to the north, Union Pacific Rail Road tracks to the east, Omega Drive to the south and Gantzel Road to the west.

Residents are advised to close windows and doors and bring pets inside until a half-hour after spraying ends.

Two Pinal residents have been confirmed with the virus this year.
