""I'm not against people owning guns, but I would like to have common sense gun laws to protect people from getting killed," said Davis."

Yes you are you kook. Most gun owners have common sense but there are nut jobs out there will use guns, knives, cars, explosives, broken bottles and baseball bats to commit horrendous crimes against other people.
Your hoplophobia is counter productive to society.

This irrational woman has no idea what she is talking about and will go nowhere with her petition. She needs to go back to her latte and keep taking the prescription pills to remedy her fabricated mental condition.

Typical anti-gun kook. Like most irrational people she leads with emotion instead of clear thinking.

Yea lady...because having a pistol grip on a semi-auto vs. a sportster stock is really goann make a difrence.

"The petition asks for the reinstatement of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban which prevents the private purchase of semi-automatic weapons and ammunition."

I need to go back and look but I thought semi-auto had nothing to do with this, it was just pistol grips and hi-caps.

Others will have to define what assualt weapons are, but I somewhat agree to questioning what the purpose of having assualt rifles like those used in war in the hands of everyday citizens. Someone has that answer, I just have the question. Though it seems like a stretch to assume that banning assualt weapons now means no one will ever again go on a killing rampage.

@VofReason, very few people have access to assault rifles like those used in war. Assault rifles are select fire (semi auto/full auto). Those owners pay a tax and go through an arduous background check to own them. The semi auto only rifles people are referring to are not "assault rifles/weapons". That term is misused to intentionally inflame the public.

More people are assaulted with baseball bats, kitchen knives, and hammers then they are with guns. Where is the cry to ban all that. Every time someone gets shot all of you gun hating liberal kooks want to trash the 2nd Amendment. A weapon is a tool. It is the person behind it that decides how to use it.
