A break from the scolding summer sun is always welcome here in the Valley. But when the temperatures dip and the precipitation rises, it’s not all cool and comfortable.
It’s then, when the monsoon storms get rolling, that the danger for Valley residents tends to go up.
The monsoon is set to begin June 16 this year, and ABC15 is preparing area residents with information, safety tips, and other coverage during its 30-minute “Destruction in the Desert” special, airing Saturday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m.
ABC15 forecasters Amber Sullins, Amy Murphy and Rich Dahlquist will cover everything from dust storms – how they form and what to do if you’ve been caught driving in one – to flash floods, the No. 1 storm-related killer. How to deal with lightning, as well as a monsoon forecast are also on the bill.
Sullins plans to interact with viewers during the broadcast via Twitter. To join in the discussion, use the hashtag #abc15monsoon.
