A judge found a 35-year-old Scottsdale school nurse guilty Wednesday of molesting a 13-year-old boy.

Courtney Bisbee, who is facing a prison term of 10 to 24 years when she is sentenced Feb. 17, denied she molested the boy two years ago.

Judge Warren Granville of Maricopa County Superior Court acquitted Bisbee of three counts of public sexual indecency.

The case pitted the word of four teenagers against Bisbee, and prosecutor Paul Kittredge said the teens were credible.

“The only incredible person is Courtney Bisbee,” Kittredge said.

Bisbee, who was working on a temporary basis at Horizon High School, met the boy in January 2004 through mutual friends, according to court records.

Bisbee claimed in court she only gave the boy, who was a seventh-grader at the time, a peck on the cheek on one occasion and then resisted his attempts at kissing her on another occasion.

Kittredge said the teenager testified to kissing her on three occasions, and then on Feb. 5, 2004, she fondled him and she led him into fondling her. Three other teenagers were in the room at the time while Bisbee and the boy kissed heavily under a blanket, he said.

Defense attorney Joel Thompson said that to believe the boy’s story, Bisbee would have begun kissing the boy within 10 minutes of meeting him.

He said Bisbee was too busy as a single mother and full-time worker studying for a graduate degree to have engaged in a relationship with the boy.

The teenagers who testified also seemed to have gotten together and contrived their stories, Thompson said.
