Scottsdale police said Tuesday they were looking for more evidence against a Scottsdale dentist accused by two women of sexual assault before making an arrest.

“With the exposure the case has received, we were hoping that more women would come forward, but so far, it’s only been the two women,” said detective Sam Bailey, police spokesman. “Evidently, the county prosecutor doesn’t feel comfortable enough in recommending charges on the evidence we have.”

The women accused Dr. Michael Templeton, 44, of assaulting them while they were impaired by nitrous oxide.

Bill FitzGerald, spokesman for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office confirmed Tuesday that the case is under review, but wouldn’t elaborate.

Police last week served search warrants at Templeton’s Chandler home and his Scottsdale office, 7473 Osborn Road, confiscating videotapes, computers, photographs and paperwork.

Bailey said police and the attorney’s office are reviewing content on the videotapes, all of which were recorded after the women accused Templeton.
