Times are tough for everyone, but about 75 employees of the Arizona Farm Bureau Home Office in Gilbert decided they wanted to help others in need. So, throughout the year, they held various activities — a bake sale, a chili cook-off, a yard sale from items donated by staff, decorating contests, and more — to raise the money.

Last week, they presented $1,000 to Maggie’s Place/The Elizabeth House in Tempe for pregnant mothers who are alone or living on the streets.

“Simply put, our employees wanted to give back to the community they work in,” Ron Hurst, non-standard lines director for the Farm Bureau, said in an email to the Tribune.
