Juggernaut, I'm with you! When Grandma played the "race" card, I considered that below the belt. The police followed EVERY lead, what FEW they had. What Grandma SHOULD BE UPSET ABOUT is whom is the responsible one here. That would be THE MOTHER!!! I don't know the ages of the other children, but if all she had to do was "an errand", why didn't she bring the youngest with her? The Mother DOES HAVE A BACKGROUND OF CHILD ABUSE!
I wonder if it turns out that a family member is guilty of something, will Grandma apologize for her words? I doubt it, considering the type of daughter she has raised.....

You are both horrible people to take something positive that someone is trying to do and use it as a platform for your hateful spew. Any other time you would probably be bemoaning the self-centered youth of today. Here we have some who are thinking of someone else and this is how it gets received in a public forum?
Grow up. Or shut up. Or both.

Think of the cup as half full, not half empty. These girls proactively and voluntarily made a choice to do SOMETHING in an effort to make a difference. Maybe if more people got involved and looked out for one another as a neighbor and a fellow American, this country would not be so full of the "What's in it for me?" crowd. Often the best way to have good neighbors is to BE a good neighbor. The bigger picture here is to look out for Jahessye Shockley's current safety and well being, and if possible, put her in first place in our thoughts.

I am so proud of these young ladies for stepping out in their community on National Day of Caring to do something positive and heartfelt to help find Jahessye Shockley. It is because of the efforts of individuals like these non judgemental young ladies, trying to make a difference, that we can see the bright side of this tragic situation. They selflessly thought of Jahessye.
Regardless of the outcome of the search or investigation there has been no trial. There is no "official" judge or jury. Unfortunately, there are cynics in every media situation. Fortunately, this is not the majority and we can ignore unsubstantiated opinions.
I applaud these young ladies for taking the time to try to help out in this search. I am honored to live amoung young people who try to make a difference. It made my day a brighter one by just reading the article. Thank you ladies.

Great effort girls! You make me proud every day. Two of you are my daughters but I think of world of all of you and am so grateful for all of our young people who make such a positive statement in our community!

@shrinkingviolet: My statement has nothing about the girls trying to assist. That is admirable. My hostility is directed at the Grandmother claiming that the police are no longer helping due to the child's RACE. SHE'S the one that's spewing hateful words. MY statements are FAIR. It was the MOTHER'S decision to leave the child with children. AND, the Mother DOES HAVE A HISTORY of child abuse. It goes against my grain when Grandma can't see the forest because of the trees.
By the way, I have THE RIGHT to my opinion. YOU HAVE NOT RIGHT to tell me to shut up. Perhaps when you grow up some, you'll have a deeper understanding of things....
